No Purchase Necessary: How to Enter GiftDrop for Free

Every legitimate sweepstakes in the United States is legally required to offer a free way to enter. That free path is called the Alternative Method of Entry — AMOE for short. It's not a footnote. It's the reason a sweepstakes is different from an illegal lottery.

Why "no purchase necessary" is the law A lottery requires three things: a prize, an element of chance, and consideration (something of value you give up to enter). Remove consideration and it becomes a legal sweepstakes. The AMOE removes consideration — you never have to buy anything or complete a paid offer to have a shot at the prize.

This isn't optional. U.S. sweepstakes law requires it, and it applies to GiftDrop the same as any other operator.

How our free entry works Mail a handwritten 3×5 index card with your full name, mailing address, email address, and date of birth to the AMOE address listed in the Official Rules. One card per envelope. No photocopies. Each valid card received during the open entry period earns one ticket in that draw.

That's it. No offer. No account required to mail the card.

Do free entries have the same odds? Yes — exactly the same. Mail-in tickets go into the same numbered pool as offer-earned tickets. If the winning ticket is #4,201 and your card was assigned #4,201, you win. The draw doesn't know or care how a ticket was earned.

Can a mail-in entry actually win? Yes. The odds per ticket are identical regardless of how you entered. The practical difference is volume — someone completing ten offers holds ten tickets; one mailed card is one ticket. But one ticket is all it takes.

Why most people still use offers Speed and scale. An offer credits in minutes; a mailed entry takes days plus postage. Completing offers lets you stack many tickets per draw. But the free mail-in option is real, it's valid, and people do use it every draw.
